COW DASHES INTO HOUSE
COMPLAINT TO TOWN BOARD PROBLEM FOR COMMITTEE From Our Oicn Correspondent PAPAKURA, Today. How a cow being driven to the saleyards clashed over his front lawn and into the house, smashing a pile of crockery, was told in a letter from Air. W. R. Richardson at a meeting of the Papakura Town Board last evening. Air. Richardson sought information from the board as to whom he should sue for damages—the board, the drover, or the owner of the cattle. The chairman said the board was certainly not liable, and believed that the owner of the beast should be sued. Both Air. AlcEntee and Air. Weir strongly advocated fencing the footpath at this point, but the Rev. AV. C. Wood said that the type of fences erected to keep cattle off the footpath were an eyesore and a blot on the town. Air. Richardson had an ornamental fence round his property and a cattle fence would simply hide its beauty. His suggestion to refer the question to the AVorks Committee to consult with All*. Richardson on the best method of stopping the nuisance was adopted.
