DESERTED HIS SHIP
ARRESTED ON WARRANT TWO YEARS OLD LONG ARM OF THE LAW Arrested oil a warrant two and alialf years old, Charles Giborn pleaded guilty at the Police Court this morning to a charge ot deserting from the s.s. Arawa at Wellington on February 16. 1927. The agent for the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company said that Giborn had been a trimmer on the Arawa. He had deserted two and a-half years ago and liad not been heard of again until his arrest yesterday. The company had incurred expenses amounting to £2 10s in the case and merely asked to be reimbursed. Giborn said that he was living at Auckland. He was out of work, but expected to get a position on Wednesday. A conviction was entered and was ordered to pay the £2 10s to the company.
