BOOKS FOR SEDDONVILLE
MANY GIFTS FORWARDED As a response to the appeal made by Mr. H. E. Holland, M.P., for gifts of books to form the nucleus of a new library at Seddonville to replace that destroyed by flood and earthquake, the following contributions have been made: Wellington Public Library, 300 volumes; C. W. Pcynter, Wanganui, 50; L. M. Isitt, Limited, Christchurch, 43; W. R. Moris, Wadestown, 38; Mrs. Teasdale, Kelburn, 30; Mrs. LovellSmith, Ricearton, 28; and six other gifts of illustrated papers and 52 books.
The public library at Carterton has obtained promises of contributions and the chief librarians at Auckland and Dunedin have replied to the effect that the appeal will come before meetings of the library committees. Books are being forwarded direct by Mr. E L. Macassey, Dunedin, and Mr. and Mrs. Glass-Johnstone, Johnstonville. Instructions have been issued to the chief postmasters at Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill to accept books for transmission to Seddonville free during September.
