BILLIARDS EXHIBITION

An exhibition billiards match was played at the showrooms of Alessrs. Billiards, Ltd., last night, between F. Taylor, who won by default from C. A. Stevenson in the Auckland provincial championship, and J. S. Colegrove. Both players started well, Taylor being the first to make breaks of note, adding 23 and 21 to his score. 1-lis opponent replied with a run of 20 and was first to reach the century mark, being a few points in the lead. Soon after he added breaks of 24 and 23 and gained a lead of 50 odd at the second hundred. Colegrove was scoring well at this stage, increasing his lead to over a century. Taylor. however, worked off some of the deficit by scoring well. Play was interesting to the finish, but Colegrove won comfortably. A. Bowie will play AI. D. AA’hite in the second round of the championship this evening.
