FOR-GET-ME-NOTS
STREET APPEAL FOR SUNSHINE SCHOOL Tiny stars of forget-me-not blue gleamed on every coat in Queen Street today. , . They seem to symbolise sunshine — it was impossible not to buy one. But then the cause means sunshine —sunlight treatment for children of poor physique —sunshine which will brign health back to tiny suffeers. Today was the street appeal on behalf of the Auckland Community Sunshine Association, and not a corner of the city had been left unguarded by vendors of forget-me-nots. The sum of £2,000 is required by the association with which to build and equip a solarium, for which between GO and 70 applications have already been received. The .Auckland Savings Bank and many private individuals have already subscribed to this good cause, and when the results of today’s appeal are added to the sum already in hand the solarium should not be long in taking shape. Mrs. N. E. Ferner, the president of the associtaion, had charge of the arrangements and an army of willing helpers gathered in the silver coins today from a public which was only too willing to subscribe to a good cause.
