Ihe Matamata lieautifying Society met on Wednesday evening. Mr. K. W . Stevens presiding. i'lunj> were submitted for th* cre< - uon ot a. rest-room, in conjunction with tho Piunket Society, the- laying'JUT °. 1 ;in ornamental plot round tho building, and the formation of parking areas on both sides of the plot. The area proposed to be utilised is on the west side of Hetana Street. F'roe labour is already promised for *h© which, when carried out. will .supply a long-felt want and add considerably to the beauty of the town. The society has only been in existence a few months, but evidence of its activities is already apparent. Messrs. Stevens, the president. and Acting, the s<a-rotary, are indefatigable, nnd it their onthusi:■ «m i.~ properly supported Matamata will take its pk»c« as a garden city in the Waikato.
