BANDITS REPULSED
! RAID ON AN AUSTRALIAN BANK MANAGER SHOT IN LEG SYDNEY, Thursday. Three masked men held up the | manager and the assistant at the Woollahra branch of the Government I Savings Bank this afternoon. The ! assistant, Mr. Thomas Holdsgrove, ! reached for a revolver which was | under the counter and was shot in , the leg. | The men then fired at the manager, Mr. N. Everitt, and a bullet grazed his arm. Apparently nonplussed by the unexpected resistance of the bank staff the men hurried away without attempting to raid the l bank funds, and escaped in a motor--1 car, which with the engine running had been left in front of the bank.
