The picture shows the Mayor of Auckland, Mr. G. Baildon, listening to Dunedin, over 1,000 miles of wire. On his right is Mr. A. G. Lunn, representing the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, and on his left, Mr. W. E. Vivian (engineer in charge of automatic telephones) and Mr. E. C. Gage (chief telegraph engineer). —See story page 6.
