PROGRESS OF TOURNEY A. Bowie defeated 11. Rae in a further match in the Auckland provincial amateur billiards championship for Messrs. Billiards Ltd.’s Shield last evening. Both players started confidently and scored finely. Rae making a run of 23. to which Bowie replied with breaks of 22 and 23 and was first to reach the century. Rae failed to add to his total at his next few visits and Bowie gained over a hundred points’ lead by scoring consistently. Rae had the balls running against him somewhat and had hard luck in not scoring on several occasions. He decreased his opponent’s lead by scoring better at his next few visits. Both players rallied and breaks of 40 to Bowie and 20 to Rae resulted. Bowie maintained his good lead and ran out a winner by IT>l points. The final scores were: Bowie, 300, breaks of 22. 23. 47. 32. 40. 45 and 30: Rae, 340, breaks of 23, 26, 20. 26 and °0
