STILL HAS A CHANCE
\y J. TOMKINSON has not yet ’’ * had his name inscribed on the New Zealand Cup list; but that honour, however, may not be long in arriving. Probably the most dependable string to his bow in this year's race will be Prince Pointer, who, although getting on well in years, has not lost any of his old dash or staying powers. Prince Pointer ran fourth in last year's New Zealand Cup and second in the Free-for-All. in which he registered the remarkable figure of 2.39 for the mile and a-quarter. He followed up these performances by finishing third in the Auckland Cup and winning two races subsequently at the meeting. He is as hale and hearty as ever, and is in tip-top shape to tackle his Cup preparation.
