DOWN 30-FOOT BANK

SERVICE-CAR OVERTURNS

PASSENGERS’ CLOSE CALL

Press Assoctarvon CHRISTCHURCH, Today.

A service-car going from Christchurch to Blenheim this morning ran off the road in Greta- Cutting, near Cheviot, and overturned twice down a 30ft. bank.

There were eleven passengers, including members of the Marlborough basketball team, one of whom received a broken wrist. The rest escaped injury. The accident was caused by the driver. J. Nicholls, attempting to avoid a dray on a portion of the road where relief gangs are improving the grade. He was forced on to the side of the road which gave way. The car was badly damaged, and had to be raised in order to extricate the occupants.
