BIRKENHEAD CARNIVAL
OPENING OF CAMPAIGN The queen carnival to raise funds for a lire brigade for Birkenhead opened on Saturday, when a house-to-house collection was made. The sum of £2B 2s 74d was collected. There are four queens in the carnival —Miss G. Utting (business). Mrs. R. Godfrey (Labour). Miss L. McPhail (Friendly Societies) and Miss D. Casey (Birkdale). Different colours have been chosen for the queens and a pennant of the colour of the leading queen will be, hoisted at the Borough Council Chambers daily. The contest closes on October 31.
