END OF THE ENTENTE?
ITALIAN VIEW OF BRITISH ATTITUDE A HINT TO FRANCE Times Cable. * LONDON, Friday. As the outcome of The Hague Conference, Italian newspapers see the possibility of a rapprochement between France and Italy. The Rome correspondent of “The Times” says the matter is also the chief subject of conversation in political circles. Britain’s attitude at The Hague is interpreted as an intimation to France that the entente cordiale is ended. Will France —unexpectedly deserted by her former ally—now turn to Italy, which bore with her the brunt of The Hague battle? This is the theme of several leading articles, the writers of which admit the reasonableness of an understanding between France and Italy, especially as Mr. Snowden, they say, evidently is determined to support Germany. The "Giornale d’ltalia” says Italy will never forget th.e bitter words spoken at The Hague, nor the “British offensive” against the Allies.
