KID CHOCOLATE WINS
STIRRING FIGHT AGAINST AL SINGER 50.000 WATCH CONTEST (Australian and X.Z. Press Association} NEW YORK, Thursday. In a boxing contest at the New York Polo grounds. Kid Chocolate, 5.13. defeated Al. Singer, 9.22. in a decision bout of 12 rounds. There were 50,000 spectators, and the receipts totalled £ 45,000, both figures being records for a fight between men of their weight. No championship was involved. It was the greatest contest of Chocolate’s career. He received a tremendous ovation. The bout was thrilling throughout. Singer had been favourite, for he had defeated Andre Routis a short time before. Chocolate, however, proved to have more staying power and toward the end he punished Singer with terrific punches to the head. The loser had a long lead in the ’'arly rounds, but Chocolate turned the tables after the sixth round. Singer "ulv scored in the eleventh round by a slim margin, and was barely able to Feather the twelfth.
