SHOT AT BY BANDITS
BANK MANAGER STRUCK DOWN TWO MEN ARRESTED (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 11 a.m. MELBOURNE, Friday. Two armed bandits who wore masks entered the Lake Colac branch of the Bank of New South Wales and attacked the manager and his wife. Two shots were fired at the banker, both of which missed him, but he was struck down with a piece of iron. The wife’s screams frightened the robbers, who escaped in a motor-car, taking the bank manager’s revolvers with them. The police have arrested two men in connection with the Lake Colac hold-up. One is charged with shooting with intent to murder, and the other with assaulting Mr. Elcoate and an attempt to rob him while armed.
