Large Numbers Attend Annual Staff Dance
Symondsville Studio Scene of Gay Gathering JOHN BURNS AND CO„ LTD. The annual dance organised by the staff of John Burns and Co., Ltd., was held at Symondsville Studio last evening, and was most enjoyable. The committee’s arrangements were admirable, and the guests had a pleasurable time dancing to the lively music of Clyde ITowley’s Famous Internationals. Hanging baskets of ferns and deli-cately-shaded lights were an attractive setting for charming frocks. The supper tables with their decoration of iceland poppies had an artistic environment. Members of the committee included: — Airs. Thode, who wore black georgette. Aliss Adlington, wearing a floral chiffon frock patterned in black and rose, and an oriental shawl. Aliss AlcAlaster, who had on rose and gold lame and georgette with french shoulder spray. Aliss Robinson, who chose pale lilac chiffon over charmeuse to tone. AMONG THOSE PRESENT Airs. A. AI. Ferguson was gowned in black beaded georgette. Airs. Hough was in black chiffon taffeta. Airs. Kirkman wore a graceful picture frock in tones of pompadour pink. Airs. Spicer was gowned in black crepe de soie. Airs. Scott had on black satin beaute. Airs. Henderson’s frock was of pale capueine georgette. Mrs. Kingston Smith chose a peach pink georgette frock, inset with silver sequins. Airs. Butler was in ivory georgette enhanced with silver lace. Mrs. Badcock wore black embroidered crepe de chine. Airs. \ r . Trask liad on a smart black and white beaded ninon frock with shoulder spray of narcissi. Mrs. Kennings was wearing briar rose pink charmeuse. Airs. Hewson was in rose pink. Ah's. C. Bartlett’s frock was cameo punk taffeta, with skirt of pointed silk net to tone. Airs. F. Pearson had on a japonica pink charmeuse flared frock and black Spanish shawl. Airs. Harold King wore russet brown georgette with uneven hemline. Airs. Burgoyne wore a black pailleted georgette gown. Airs. A. Guy was in silver lace mounted on shell pink charmeuse. Airs. Angus was wearing a dainty frock of ivory georgette defined with diamente on the corsage. Aliss Ailsa Bell was in pervenche blue taffeta made on picture lines. Aliss Kewish was frocked in ivory ring velvet, with long draperies at the side. Aliss Foley’s picture frock was of cream embossed ninon. Aliss Slaughter was in orchid crepe de soie, with uneven hem. Aliss Stitchbury wore daffodil beaded georgette. Aliss B. Alexander had on goblin blue taffeta with deep flounce of ecru lace. Miss Betty Biss was in wedgewood blue taffeta with flounced skirt. Aliss Railly’s frock was pastel pink < georgette. Aliss V Thompson wore delphinium I blue with skirt of draped tulle. Aliss Peters had on floral georgette in apricot blendings. Aliss Alexander wore a georgette frock in shades of apricot. Aliss Frost’s black georgette frock was worn with a duchess blue shawl. Aliss Daniels was in almond green taffeta. Aliss Dorothy Fairfield had on a dainty frock of lemon georgette with handkerchief draperies. Ariss Douglas -wore a picture frock of shell pink taffeta. Aliss Marshall's frock was turquoise georgette and tulle finished with large pink rose. Aliss Alorton was in oyster grey taffeta edged with silver lace. Aliss Hunter’s frock was mauve lace finished with cerise velvet nip bow. AN ENGAGEMENT The engagement is announced of Frances Cecelia, younger daughter of Air. and Airs. AV. Sinclair, of Ala.rewa, Mountain Road, Epsom, to Robert Hunter, younger son of Air. and Airs. Hugh Brown, of Alount Albert, Auckland.
