AFRICAN WAR PENSIONS

VETERANS SEEK INCREASE MINISTER’S REPLIES « % Press Association WELLINGTON, Thursday. Pensions and other matters were discussed today by a deputation of South African War veterans, which waited upon the Minister of Lands, the Hon. G. W T . Forbes, and the Minister in charge of the Penions Department, the Hon. W. A. Veitch. Mr. Veitch said he did not think it would be possible to increase pensions this session of Parliament, but the Government intended to go into the whole position during the recess. In regard to the settlement of land, Mr. Forbes said the cases of veterans would receive very sympathetic consideration from the Government. In connection with land ballots, he did not think any further privileges could be granted to any particular section of the community.
