FATAL MISTAKE

WOMAN TOOK POISON IN ERROR DIED IN HOSPITAL The tragic death of Mrs. Gertrude Taylor, aged 40. -wife of Mr. T. B. Taylor, 444 Queen Street, occurred last evening when she accidentally drank poison instead of medicine. Mrs. Taylor h d gone downstairs to prepare supper, leaving the family in the rooms above the shop, which they operate. Her absence was so prolonged that the members of the family became anxious and went downstairs to investigate. They discovered her lying on the kitchen floor. The bottle of medicine, which Mrs. Taylor had used previously in the evening, was on a shelf next to the bottle of poison. It is presumed she confused the two bottles when intending to take medicine. She was conveyed to the Auckland Hospital, but died half an hour after admission.
