WITHHOLDING HIGHWAYS CONTRIBUTION CANTERBURY’S PROTEST Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. A meeting of Canterbury local bodies and motoring organisations today passed a resolution emphatically protesting against the proposal of the Government to withhold the annual grant of £200,000 from the Public Works Fund to the Main Highways Construction Fund, and also the annual grant of £35,000 from the Consolidated Fund to the Main Highways revenue fund as being a serious breach of faith.
