ACCOUNTANTS’ OFFICERS
CONFERENCE IN DUNEDIN COMPANIES ACT REVISION Press Association DUNEDIN, Today. At the meeting of the New Zealand Society of Accountants being held in Dunedin, Mr. J. L. Griffin, of Wellington, was elected president for the ensuing year and Mr. W. D. Revell, of Timaru, was re-elected vice-presi-dent. The council decided to grant £SO for the current year, to Canterbury College and £3O for two years to the Hamilton Technical School for assistance in accountancy classes. A lengthy discussion occurred on a Wellington remit moved by Mr. E. W. Hunt, urging revision of the Companies Act to bring it into line'with the British Act. All members supported the revision and it was suggested that a deputation wait on Cabinet. The question was referred to the executive in committee for immediate attention, with power to act. It was deckled that the accountants’ convention be held in Wellington next year and should open on February 25. A motion was carried: “That this executive take steps to have introduced amendments to the regulations in respect to the audit of solicitors’ trust accounts.”
