Young Shoplifter's Haul Valued at £6O

CUTLERY AND LINEN REMANDED FOR REPORT Between £SO and £6O worth of goods that she had stolen from city shops was found by the police when they searched the room of a young girl who was charged at the Police'Court this morning with theft. TIOROTHY BLADE, described as a domestic, aged 23, pleaded guilty on a charge of stealing a jersey-jumper valued at £4 9s 6d from a city store yesterday. According to Chief-Detective Hammond, the girl had been caught coming out of the shop with the lumper. When her room had been searched, goods valued at £6O were found. The articles had included soup-spoons, carvers and other cutlery, a great quantity of linen, clothing and materials of different sorts. “We found a receipt for a costume worth £l3 13s that she had bought only last week,” added the Chief-Detective. “The girl-refuses to tell us where her parents live or anything about herself. She said that she had bought all the things found in her room and held out until this morning, when she admitted that they were stolen. A remand for a week was suggested, the chief-detective mentioning that the girl could be placed in Major Gordon’s care for that time. The remand was made and the magistrate requested the female probation officer, Major Gordon, to prepare a report upon accused.
