DESPERATE PRISONER
OVERPOWERED GUARD AND ESCAPED (Australian and A .Z. Press Association) Reed. 10.10 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. A daring escape from the Katoomba lock-up was effected last night by Alvert Zvinder, who was being held on charges connected with robberies in the Blue Mountains. The man rushed at Constable Archer when the latter took him a meal, and struck the policeman a violent blow, knocking him unconscious. Zvinder then locked Archer in the cell and escaped.
