CHARGE OF THEFT

REMANDED ON BAIL Arrested by Constable Rattray at a suburban tennis club on Saturday afternoon, Phillip Hugh Bailey, a member of the club, was charged with theft at the Police Court this morning. Bailey, a salesman aged 26, was charged at the Police Court this morning with the theft of 10s from Stewart Victor Fernandy on Saturday. He was remanded until tomorrow. Bail was renewed in the sum of £SO in accordance with the request of a representative of Mr. A. H. Johnstone. According to the police, Bailey was arrested on the information of fellowmembers. For some time past the players have suffered from the activities of" a petty thief, and it was decided to set a watch, marked money being placed in clothing. Bailey was arrested at 4.30 p.m. and released on bail two hours later.
