“ARRANT FRAUD” GAOLED
POSED AS WEALTHY FARMER DOCTORS SWINDLED WANGANUI, Today. Described as an habitual criminal *nd an arrant fraud, Emanuel Simmls, alias Grey, alias Reid, was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment on a charge of false pretences. He represented himself as a wealthy farmer and obtained lodgings *nd treatment at two private hospitals from two doctors. When arrested he was examined by the gaol !l >rgeon, who pronounced him quite well. Accused has 12 previous convictions and was discharged from Mount Eden Gaol last June.
