NEWMARKET BLAZE
TWO ROOMS GUTTED A fire which broke out at 6 Boyle Crescent, Newmarket, last evening, was first discovered by a next door neighbour, who heard the breaking of glass and gave the alarm. Although the flames had a strong hold when the Newmarket brigade arrived, they were readily suppressed without the aid of the City brigade, which was in attendance for a few minutes. Two rooms were gutted. One of the rooms was used by Miss Ruby Phillips, the occupier of the premises, as a dancing studio. A third room was damaged by smoke and water, and a piano, a violin and a gramophone were destroyed. Miss Phillips’ furniture was covered by a policy for £3OO. and the piano was also insured. The wall of the house on the north side of the damaged house was scorched, and some little damage was done by entry of water into the interior. At the time of the outbreak the residents were away at the theatre.
