On the Xo. 3 level a drive has been commenced on a reef 40 feet wide, which was exposed by the main crosscut at a point 130 feet west of the Camoola lode. The stope south of C crosscut on Camoola reef has been carried along from 80 to 104 feet in ore of good grade. Further sloping will be commenced immediately in the south section north and south of Xo. 1 rise. The tramway connections between the mine and mill are practically complete and in readiness for the transport of ore. The erection of plant at the mill is within measurable distance of completion, and it is hoped to commence crushing during next month.” WAIOMO SULPHIDE CORP.—The manager reports:—“During the period ended August 17 the rise from the Xo. 3 to Xo. 2 level was extended from 89 to 121 feet. A connection with the intermediate level between Xo. 2 and Xo. 3 level will now' be possible. WELLINGTON WOOL SALE FINAL FOR SEASON PRICES MUCH LOWER (From Our Resident Reporter) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Prices at the final clearing-up wool sale of the season, held in Wellington today, showed a considerable decline on the prices at the crutching sale held in June last. Approximately 2,000 bales were offered, but as growers were mostly all prepared to meet the market, good clearances were made. The most severe depreciation took place in super and medium lines of both crossbred and halfbred sorts. Seedy and inferior parcels commanded a wider range of competition, mostly from local scourers, and these wools did not show the same heavy depreciation as the better sort. It was apparent from the commencement of the sale that only very limited orders were held by Canadian and Japanese buyers. The Bradford trade is never looked to as a keen competitor for crutchings, as this class is not used in the English trade for any specialty purpose. whereas both Japan and Canada have a special outlet for this class of wool. The following is the range of prices:— d d Merino crutchings .... 7 to 8 Halfbred crutchings .. 6J to 105 Crossbred crutchings— Super .. 10 to 12 Medium to good .. .. 8 to 10 Crutchings, seedy and inferior 4 to 8 Crossbred pieces and bellies 6£ to 95 Locks and stained pieces 4 to 6 LONDON METAL MARKETS ('Australian and N.Z.
