“FREAK PARTY”
NOVEL TE PUKE BRIDGE EVENING BLACK CATS FOR “FLAGS” \ Mrs. MacFarlane and. Mrs. Knight were responsible for a very original flag bridge evening at Te Puke. The evening took the form of a “Freak Party,” each guest arriving gowned as a freak. The evening proved immensely successful, and much amusement was caused among the guests. Airs. D. Twigg received two packs of playing cards as the prize for being the most original freak, and Aliss W. Watson won the prize for wearing the second best costume. On each table were large black cats, which were used as “flags.” Shrieks of laughter greeted the lighting of rubber cigarettes, and there was much merriment at the expense of those guests who attempt to cut the “flannel” sandwiches proffered them. Among those present were Alesdames AlacFarlane, Booker, Butcher. Ball, Bostock, Cashmore. C.awte, Davies, Granger, Jones, Watson, Knight, Ralfe, Twigg, Wilson, H. Wickham. D. Wickham, Wilkie, Vercoe and Martyn. Alisses Esson (phristchurch), Busn, Chappell, Jamieson and Watson.
