GIFT EVENING FOR BRIDEELECT MRS. W. DARLOW IS HOSTESS A very joily party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Darlow, Highbury, Birkenhead, last evening for Miss M. Peterson and t Mr. G. Wilson, who are shortly to be married. Bowls of iceland poppies and tall irises made an attractive showing in the rooms. and musical items and dancing passed a bright evening. The hostess. Mrs. Darlow* was in a smart gown of sea foam green crepe fleuri and gold lace, and Miss Peterson had on midnight blue georgette, worn, i over silver lame, and a black wrap. AMONG THE GUESTS Mrs. ,T. Craven was smartly gowned in cedar rose georgette and lace: Mrs. Hudson chose an orange crepe de soie gown, with black wrap; Mrs. Osborne was in prune ring velvet: Airs. Morison MacDonald's gown was of black romanette and lace with diamente relief; Mrs. Jackson Kerruish had on citronne georgette with sequined corsage; Miss Phyllis Peterson’s becoming frock was of geranium ring velvet with rhinestone embroidery. The pretty, uneven length frock cl.osen by Miss Bettina Edwards was of flowered ninon; Miss Connie Knox wore a pretty cerise georgette frock with french embroidery; Miss Clements was in a phlox pink taffeta frock with silver relief. ENGAGEMENTS ANNOUNCED The engagement is announced of Mavis, eldest daughter of Air. and Airs. J. A. Holroyd, Old Alill Road. Grey Lynn, to Cyril, fourth son of Air. and Airs. J. flatter, Tennyson Street, Grey Lynn. The engagement is announced of Joy Elizabeth, second daughter of Mr. and Airs. J. B. Gemmell. of Rukuhia, Hamilton, to Percy Arnold, youngest son of the late Mr. W. Hancock and Mrs. F. Hancock, of Point Chevalier. Auckland.
