Second Series of Bridge Evenings Held CARDS AND DANCING The co-operative movement, to foster interest in the Auckland University College from a social standpoint has taken concrete form in the organising of bridgeevenings this week. The second of the series, held last evening, was arranged by the combined forces of the architects, surveyors and engineers. TAR. HILDA NORTHCROFT. as representative of the Federation of University Women, the sponsor of this project, was hostess, and assisting her was Mrs. M. K. Draffin, convenor of the sub-committee responsible for the evening’s entertainment. Bridge and dancing kept the guests happily engaged, and the music-room, with its improvised setting, was gay with a profusion of Iceland poppies, irises and primroses. To receive the guests, Dr. Hilda Northcroft wore black georgette and Chantilly lace, with black embroidered wrap. Airs. M. H. Draffin had on a pale capucine satin charmeuse, with overskirt of ninon embroidered with opalescent sequins and gold beads. Her wrap was of almond green. Other members of the committee were: Mrs. Arthur Gray, who wore leaf-green crepe de chine, with panelled skirt: Airs. C. K. Grierson, in shell pink georgette, beaded in silver, with blue wrap; Mrs. R. Lippincott, who had chosen ivory georgette beaded in gold; Mrs. Harknese. who was in primrose georgette, with yoke and uneven overskirt of self-toned lace; Mrs. Holderness, who wore lilac georgette, beaded in silver, with coloured flowers interwoven; Mrs. C. Chilwell, who chose rose pink chenille embossed in oriental colours; Mrs. A. J. Brown, who had on a black satin gown of uneven length, and black shawl, embroidered in oriental colours; Mrs. C. R. Knight, wlypse gown was of daffodil georgette, beaded in silver, with flowers outlined in coloured AMONG those present Mrs. Dignan had chosen a lettuce green lace frock, with uneven georgette overskirt, pink figured shawl. Mrs. Glass wore cameo pink embossed chenille, georgette. Miss Fitzherbert’s frock was of lettuce green brocaded satin, with flying panels of georgette. Mrs. Winton Robinson had on a chartreuse green velvet gown of uneven length. Mrs. Von Stunner's smart gown was of ivory georgette, with two-tiered petalled skirt, and diamente relief. Mrs. H. O. Wills wore maize embossed chenille and georgette. Mrs. Aimer s gown was of lacquer red embossed chenille. Mrs. Montgomery had chosen rose georgette, beaded in crystal. Miss Cunningham had on leaf green georgette, with petalled skirt, appliqued with silver. Mrs. Frank Levien wore a black sequined gown and cherry red wrap. Mrs. D. Mitchell was in black spotted ninon, worn ove£ lame, Mrs. Buddie’s smartly draped model was of peacock blue embossed chenille. Mrs. Shrubsall had chosen black ninon embroidered in pastel shades, worn over Mrs. Aitken Paterson wore shell pink georgette with white silk lace inset. Miss June Stewart had chosen primrose georgette with yolk and unevenly petalled hem of silver lace. Miss Jean Meuller’s frock was of rose georgette with back and front panels of pale coffee lace. Mrs. G. McKinlay had on cedar rose georgette, corsage and gold lace skirt worn over gold lame. Miss Pat Neville wore a pale cyclamen satin frock with petalled hem dipping to the heels at back. Miss N. Whyte was wearing deep sea blue velvet with silver relief. Miss F. Hirst had on shell pink georgette of uneven length embroidered in silver. Miss Horne wore bright and sedge green embroidered chenille and georgette with two tierred skirt edged in gold. Mrs. Park had on a black ring velvet gown with silver spray appliqued. Miss McDonald’s frock was of bleu d’ amour lace. Mrs. Abbot wore georgette beaded in silver. Mrs. Poff had on a black ring velvet gown. Mrs. Kirk’s frock was of primrose georgette with two tierred skirt. Miss Walker was in leaf green georgette. Miss Erua Leity wore almond green embossed chenille and georgette.
