USE OF DOCK SITE
INTERESTED PARTIES TO HOLD CONFERENCE BEAUTY OR UTILITY? Four interested bodies will have representatives at a conference to discuss the ultimate disposal of the Old Dock Site, Quay Street. There is a movement in the city to have the area treated from an architectural standpoint. The conference will be among representatives of the Harbour Board, the City Council, the Town Planning Association and the Transport Board. The discussion in conference was suggested to the Harbour Board yesterday afternoon by the town planning committee of the City Council. It will be held before the next meeting of the board on September 3. A lease for two years of a portion of the site, for a petrol service station, was recently given by the Harbour Board. The erection of temporary buildings brought protests from the Town Planning Association, which sought support from other bodies in an effort to have the land used for beautifying purposes.
