Y.W.C.A. AT HOME

PRESIDENT AND DIRECTORS ENTERTAIN Two objectives were achieved at a very pleasing function held in the Y.W.C.A. yesterday afternoon. The president and board of directors were at home to all the voluntary workers of tha association, and also to the donors of special bedrooms in the recentlyerected hostel. in the absence of Mrs. Bradstreet, Mrs. G. Wilson, a, former president. . vcuivtd the guests in the beautiful liostel drawing-room. Great bowls arum lilies decorated the room, in which nearly 100 guests were assembled. In the room opening out of it were the afternoon tea tables, on which orange Iceland poppies made a bright note of colour. A piano solo by Miss Winnie Haydon, and songs sung by Mrs. Spencer preceded the presiding directors remarks. Mrs. G. Wilson expressed the regret of all present at the absence of the president. Mrs. J. A. Bradstreet. owing to illness. She then declared the reappointment of all standing committees for the ensuing year, tnd announced the committee chair*nen as follows:—Finance and executive, Mrs. Bradstreet; holiday house, Mrs. Wilson: hostel, Mrs. Dickinson: cafeteria, Mrs. Whitley; house, Mrs. H. Webster; activities, Miss Dempsey; world fellowship, Mrs. Todd-Smith; library, Mrs. St. Clair Inglis; immigration. Mrs. Cole. The thanks and warm appreciation of the board to all volunteer workers, whom she described as the backbone of the association, were happily conveyed by Mrs. Wilson. The chairman of the hostel committee, Mrs. J, C. Dickinson, welcomed the members to the beautiful home for girls. Following afternoon tea each of the donors of the rooms, or their representatives, accompanied by a member of the board and a section of the guests, proceeded to the rooms assigned them. There a short ceremony was performed of presentation of the key and formal opening of the door with a blessing invoked on those who should dwell there. These were: The Charles Smith room, opened by Mrs. Charles Smith: the Barnett - Willis room, opened by Mrs. Murdoch; the Hooper room, opened by Mrs. B. Hooper; the Kent room, opened by Airs. Garrard; Epsom room No. 1, by Miss Fleming; Epsom room No. 2, by Mrs. L. Clarke; Herne Bay room, by Mrs. Cook; Parker room, by Mrs. Todd - Smith; Wicksteed room, by Mrs. Dickinson.
