PAPAKURA
On Saturday the Pukekohe SubUnion’s senior representative team travelled to Papakura to play a friendly match with the Manukau Sub-Union’s senior representatives. The visitors won an interesting game by 16 points (three tries, two converted, and a penalty gaol) to 9 points (three unconverted tries). Early in the game F. Duder, of the Manukau team, had his nose badly broken and had to retire from the game. N. Munro took his place. Manukau owes its failure to poor tackling and lack of training.z The forwards seemed very tired and failed to rally round when the visitors got away. They left all the defensive work to th,e backs. AV. Alexander was easily the best forward on the ground. He was well out in the lead in all the Manukau rushes. L. Morrow was having his first game for some time, and was rather gren, but played a good game. F. Scott was in the picture all the time. The rest of the forwards were only fair. The Pukekohe backs were too good for the Manukau’s rearguard all the time, and were always dangerous. On Saturday next a team of “Old Timers” will play the present senior .representatives as a curtain-raiser to the Pukekohe and Manukau junior representatives. The old timers will be chosen from the following:—Eaton, H. Matheson, G. Wilson, S. Wilson, W. Matheson, M. Little, H. Robinson, C. Robinson, C. Searell, C. Slack, H. C. Morton, T. Dickey, H. Alexander, J. Alexander, R. Milne, C. Graham, G. Heard, R. Grant. T. Hyde, W. Paton, W. Slack, F. Osborne, J. Wilson, V. Allen, A. Henderson, J. Duder, D. Pemberton, E. Clarke. The game will start at 1.45 p.m. sharp.
