The Ohaeawai juniors visited Kaikohe on Saturday in support of their challenge for the Pearson Cup. They were beaten by 26 points to 6. The challengers were outplayed in all branches of the game. The first match of the season for the Jerkovich Cup took place on Saturday, when the Kaikohe seniors journeyed to Rawene and endeavoured to wrest the trophy from the Omanaia team. They were unsuccessful, being beaten by 6 points to 5. The forwards of the defenders were superior to the challengers, while the back divisions were evenly balanced.
