ONEHUNGA ORPHANS

WELLINGTON VISITOR Brother Matthew Carr, past president of the Wellington Orphans’ Club, who had charge of the gavel at the Onehunga Orphans’ Club on Saturday evening, contributed largely toward making the gathering one of the most enjoyable held this season. In expressing his appreciation of the invitation to preside, lie said he hoped that before long the Wellington club would extend a similar honour to one of the Onehunga Orphans. The official visitors were: Bro F. A. Mosking and several members of the Pukekohe Orphans’ Club, who during the afternoon had unsuccessfully contested a bowling match against their Onehunga brethren. Other visitors were Vice-President Bro. George Baildon. of the Auckland club. Bro. W. Tv. Francis, Papakura's president, and Bro. Ronald Duncan, of London.

The president announced that the next chairman would be Vice-Presi-dent Bro. J. E. Green, who was arranging for “A Wee Scots Night,” when the official visitors will be the officers and members of the Devonport and Takapuna Orphans’ Clubs. A feature of the programme was an able portrayal of the quarrel scene from "Julius Ceatsar,” by Bros. Maxwell Walker (Brutus) and Alan McSkimming (Cassius). The orchestra under Bro J. Lighton, played selections from “The Belle of New York” and “Pique Dame.” Other vocal and instrumental items were given by Bros. Steon, Gibbons, Roberts. Hicks and Raisher. Bro. Len Elliott played the accompaniments.
