GAMBLING PROSECUTION IN GISBORNE CROWD ATTENDS COURT Press Association GISBORNE, Today. The Police Court was crowded to its capacity this morning when four well-known citizens appeared on charges of breaches of the Gaming Act. Arthur Owen, was charged with using his premises in Hallenstein’s Buildings as a common gaming-house. Rutene Takina, Cornellius Patterson and Samuel Bardwell, were charged with frequenting the strett for purposes of betting. Owen, who pleaded guilty, was fined £IOO and costs, and Takina was fined £25. The informations against Bardwell and Patterson were dismissed.

The men were arrested during a police raid on Saturday.
