ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting: of the Franklin Agricultural and Pastoral Society, held last evening:, was presided over by Mr. E. Allan. The report stated that a successful season had closed with the finances on a sound basis. The 1929 show was regarded generally as the best the society ever held, all the stock classes being of outstanding quality. During the year members had paid visits to the Waikato Winter Show and Ruakura State farm, in addition to visiting several manufacturing concerns at Westfield and Chelsea. The president expressed the opinion that the show could be made more interesting by introducing a calf club, pet lamb competition, potato growing competition and judging competitions of sheep and produce. In the past two years the financial position had improved by over £3OO. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. J. Pollock; senior vicepresident, Mr. R. C. Clark: junior vicepresident, Mr. A. J. Melville; treasurer, Mr. D. R. Hamilton; auditors, Messrs. W. M. S. Hood and R. G. May; executive committee, Messrs. J. Reynolds. A. Best, J. Fulton, C. McCormick, H. Horrocks, W. J. A. Moore, H. J. Flay, W. J. D. Sharp, E. Allan. A. J. Harris, J. N. Massey, C, F. Shipherd, N. Stuart, P. Gallagher, R. Schlaepfer, W. M. Reynolds, J. W. Robinson, J. Blake, H. Bockett and F. J. Morrow. The general committee comprises the above and 40 others. Nine new members were elected.
