A COMEDY AND A THRILLER
DOUBLE ATTRACTION AT TIVOLI AND EVERYBODY’S A particularly amusing tale of honeymoon bliss thwarted by a mother-in-law is revealed in “Adam’s Apple,” the comedy which heads the new programme shown at the Tivoli and Everybody’s Theatres last evening. The leading roles are most cleverly portrayed by Monty Banks, well-known comedian, and Gillian Dean, who is a newcomer among English comediennes. Monty is a happy bridegroom, who has saved for ten years so that he may have a real honeymoon with the girl of his choice. Having found the girl, he marries her, and is all set for his honeymoon when the mother-in-law intervenes, and decides that she must accompany her daughter as chaperone. She brings 'with her a menagerie of pets, and Monty, determined that his life-long ambition shall not be spoiled, endeavours to rid himself of the superfluous member of the party. The story continues with dozens of highly comic incidents, and is brought to a climax when the mother-in-law states:—“From now on you’ve got to take care of yourselves; I refuse to help you any more.” The happy couple then partake of their much-in-terrupted honeymoon in peace. The second big attraction is entitled “The Whirl of Life.” and is a spectacular and gripping circus story similar In theme to the now-famous “Variety.” There is a quaint touch of comedy, too. Fay Malten, a pretty Continental star, appears with Henry George in the chief roles—those of aerial artists.
