EMPIRE TRADE “DRIVE”

CONSOLIDATED EFFORT URGED BY CANADIAN (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service) QUEBEC, Tuesday. Mr. Frank Carrell, a member of the Quebec Legislative Council, addressed the Board of Trade at Sherbrooke, Quebec. He urged the. holding of an Empire trade conference as a means ot starting a “drive” by manufacturers to consolidate their trading efforts to meet, foreign competition. Mr. Carrell suggested that the subjects to be discussed at such a conference should be: —The lemoval of the irritating barriers which now retard trade within the Empire; the creation of a better understanding within the Dominions on the subject of economic buying within the Empire by means of educational propaganda in all the industrial centres of the Empire, and the promotion of a “drive” to adopt or improve upon modern methods of lowering manufacturing coats, aided by advertising and salesmanship.
