RUMOURS SCOTCHED
(Special to THE SUN) CHRISTCHURCH, Today. A FTER the first race at Riccarton today, Mr. H. R. Sellers, secretary of the New Zealand Racing Conference, made the following statement to the Press: ‘*A rumour has been current in the last few days to the effect
that the well-known steeplechaser, Glendowie, is alleged to be identical with the Australian jumper Clan Robert. However, I cabled M.r. Kewney, secretary of the Australian Racing Club, and that officer replied, stating that Clan Robert is at present being used as a station hack in Victoria. “Mr,, H. Rothery, owner of Glendowie, also wishes me to state that the horse has been operated on for respiratory trouble. “There have also been disquieting rumours about Lord Ranald, but there is nothing in them.”
