ONE NOMINATION AT TAKAPUNA NAMES MENTIONED.~ One nomination has been received for the vacancy on the Takapuna. Borough Council caused by the resig—nation ot Mr. A. M. Seaman. Mr. John Collins has been nomin~ sued for the seat. on the council by 27:-.. A. H. Wilkie and G. H. Matthews. The last day for the receiving of names of prospective councillors is- Friday. August 16. \V’hile only one name has been submitted so far, there is an opinion in Takapuna. that there will be a. number of aspirants. Mr. C. H. M. Will: has been name das seeking election. Apart from the sponsoring of Mr. Collins, who was a. former member of the council. another ex-counoillor. Mr. John Davis. has been mentioned. Mr. C. P. Lock. of Baywater, who was an unsuccessful candidate at the municipal elections in May last. is linked with the other names.
When first—night election figures were available, Mr. Lock was declared elected, but the official tecount showed that a. substantial parcel of votes for another candidate had-been credited to Mr. Lock.
