CYCLING IN RAIN
SATURDAY’S RACES Tlio Auckland Cycling Club held a 19.4 miles road race on Saturday afternoon at Mangere. The race was run in a continual downpour which hampered the riders and soaked them to the skin. There were 11 starters. Results were: D. Storey, 3m 1 F. Lowndes, 4im 2 W. Francis, 4m 3 L. Pinfold, 2.35 m . . 4 Time., 56m 50s. The fastest time was gained by Slater Hayes, off scratch, who covered the distance in 52m 565. The Manukau Amateur Cycling Club held a 22 miles time trial and a miles junior race at Mangere Centi i The results were: Five and a-half Mile Junior Race. — S. Sergeant, 3m, 1; A. Bowen, 3m, 2; 11. Norris, 2.15 m. 3. Fastest time was recorded by C. Yule off scratch in 15m 455. Twenty-two Miles Time Trial.—J. Wade, 62m 275; J. Whitten, 63m 14s: D. Fletcher. 63m 28s; H. Dwight, 65m 14s. Results of the sealed handicap were: D. Fletcher, 5m 30s, 1; J. Wade. 2m ss, 2; E. Cleaver, 6m 40s, 3; H. Borland, 5m 20s, 4.
