HAURAKI PLAINS NOTES
BRIDGE WANTED AT PIPIROA Advocates of the proposed bridge over the Piako River at Pipiroa, on the Auckland-Coromandel main highway, met in large numbers at Pipiroa on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the position. Mr. C. A. Hayward, who presided, recalled that at a previous meeting it had been ascertained from county councillors that fhe building of the bridge was opposed by the Main Highways Board, which did not consider that the volume of traffic over the ferry was sufficient to justify the expenditure. The association had accordingly asked the council to reduce the ferry fees to induce more traffic, but ao far this had not been done, though it was understood that action would be taken. He was of opinion the association should ask the Main Highways Board to send a representative to Pipiroa to meet the settlers and take a tally of the traffic. This course was eventually agreed upon. , Arcply to the representations .hade to the Hon. G. W. The "Waitakaruru-Pipiroa Bate-

It was considered that the district had grown sufficiently to warrant two members. The proposal to form a bowling club in Kerepeehi, commenced with great enthusiasm last summer, seems unlikely to materialise. Difficulty has been experienced in securing a suitable area, and during the time that has lapsed advocates have realised that there would not be sufficient members with a permanent stake in the district to make financing an easy matter.
