WITH ONE FOOT CRUSHED UNDER THE WHEELS OF A TRAM in Queen Street, just after midday today, a woman endured agonising pain for 12 minutes before she could be released. The accident happened during the noon rush, and trams were held up in a solid line from Customs Street to the Civic Square. The woman was knocked under a Mount Eden tram by an inward bound car, near the centre-pole seen in the centre of the picture. It is thought that her leg may have to be amputated.
