PUKEKOHE EFFORT TO RAISE FUNDS FOR JASPER CALDER'S MISSION r i i LODGE BETHESDA REBEKAH I The Oddfellows’ Hall, Pukekohe, was the scene of a very successful dance on Tuesday evening. Arranged by Lodge Betliesda Rebekah No. 24. the ladies’ branch of the Independent Order of Oddfellows, the function was organised for the purpose of raising funds for the Rev. I Jasper Calder’s mission. A fairly substantial sum was received. The hall was decorated with fes-
toons in shades of pink and green—the lodge colours—and fernery.
! The Merry-Makers’ Orchestra dis- | pensed music, and Miss M. Lysnar played extra numbers. Vocal solos were given by Miss Frost and Mr. Butterworth, of Auckland, the Hev. Mr. Calder contributing humorous items. Those present includedr-^— Mrs. VV. Sri. Evans, wearing a blackgeorgette frock; Mrs. X. Stuart, in moonlight blue taffeta; Mrs. Bowring ’(Auckland), whose rrocx was of black beaded georgette; Mrs. W. Horne, in green georgette and lame; Mrs. MacDonald, shell pink georgette relieved with sequins; Mrs. J. Maxwell, who wore a frock of white taffeta; Mrs. Rensliaw, black frock trimmed with diamente; Mrs. Nightingale, frock of black georgette relieved with gold; Mrs. Charlesworth. in a white georgette frock; Miss Elta Jarvie (Runcimn), pale pink georgette frock of uneven hemline; Miss Tommy Perkins, wearing a frock of sea green georgette; Miss Duncan, in black taffeta; Miss Kathleen O’Connor. ' handembroidered frock of cyclamen organdie. Miss Nancy Sellar wore nile green taffeta; Miss Nellie Perkins, embroidered georgette frock; Miss Frost (Auckland), liamo ring velvet; Miss Alice Johns, hand embroidered frock of apple blossom crepe de chine: Miss Rewa Johns, cardinal red crepe de chine relieved with silver; Miss Zoe Johns, sea green crepe de chine and silver; Miss L. Knowles, almond green crepe de chine; Miss Dorothy Lakeman, white georgette; Miss B Gamble (Auckland), pink crepe de chine, with gold lace relief; Miss Hogan, pink georgette frock; Miss Marjorie Perkins, in a frock of electric blue georgette; Miss Wilma Scott, apple green frock of crepe de chine with an overdress of tulle. FAREWELL PARTY MR. AND MRS. F. GIBSON ARE ENTERTAINED A most enjoyable evening organised by Mrs. H. Rieper, on behalf of the Anglican Ladies’ Guild and church friends, was held at her residence, Ameku Road, on Tuesday evening," to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. F. Gibson, who are leaving shortly for Levin. On her arrival Mrs. Gibson was presented with a beautiful posy of violets. Musical numbers were presented during the evening, while interesting competitions claimed the attention of the guests. On behalf of the Ladies’ Guild, Mr, 11. Rieper, in an appropriate speech, referred to the good work done by Mrs. Gibson as a member of the guild, and wished both Mr. and Mrs. Gibson every success in their new home. He then presented Airs. Gibson with a handsome crystal water jug with a goblet set to match, also a crystal vase. Air. Gibson responded and thanked all for their kindness. With cheers for the parting friends and also for the hostess, the singing of “Auld Lang ; Syne” terminated a most enjoyable evening.
