COLLEGE TOURNAMENT

AUCKLAND AND WELLINGTON STUDENTS SPORTS AND DEBATE The annual competitions between the Auckland and Wellington Training Colleges, which this year are being held in Auckland, will commence on Monday. The Wellington representatives will arrive on Sunday morning’s express, when they will be met on behalf of the Auckland students by Mr. ly. McRae, vice-president of the executive, the president, Mr. V. Butler, at present touring with the Auckland Rugby representatives. The visitors will meet at the Train- : ing College, Epsom, at 2.30, when the j official welcome will be given, followed by afternoon tea. At 3.30 they will be taken for a motor drive round the city, and at seven o'clock they will attend Divine service at St. David’s Church, Khyber Pass. On Monday a tennis tournament will commence at nine o’clock on the Seddonian courts near the college, and at 2.30 p.m. athletic sports will be held at the Domain. The evening will be taken up by a boxing tournament to be held at the Auckland University College, commencing at six o’clock; a debate, “That the Introduction of Machinery is in the Interests of Mankind,” at eight o’clock; and a play, “Fanny and the Servant Problem,” by Jerome K. Jerome. Two hockey matches, women at 9.15 and men at 10.30, will occupy Tuesday morning, and the basketball matches will be played on the University courts at 1.30 p.m. The annual football match will be played at the Domain at 3 p.m., and in the evening the annual ball will be held at the University. On Wednesday, the final day, swimming races will be held at the Tepid Baths at 11 a.m., and a combined executive meeting in the College library at 2 p.m., the visitors leaving for the South at 7.10 p.m. The Milne bowl, at present held by Auckland, will be competed for in the athletic events and the Waghorn vase, held by Wellington, in the debate. The Auckland Training College will break up for its three weeks’ vacation today.
