GRAMMAR JUBILEE

VETERAN OLD BOYS VISIT THE SCHOOL TOMORROW’S CELEBATIONS Tlie diamond jubilee celebrations of the Auckland Grammar School will commence officially this evening with a ball to be held in the Scots Hall under the auspices ot the Old Boys’ Association. This afternoon old boys who attended the school between 1869, the year of its opening, and 1877 were given a lunch in the tea room of Milne and Cboyce, at whose invitation the function was arranged. At 2 o’clock the “veterans” were taken to the school, where they met the headmaster, Mr. H. J. D. Mahon, the staff and the present boys. Yesterday some 90 pupils, members of the senior representative athletic teams, and captains of junior teams, were given a luncheon at Milne and Choyce’s by the association. Tomorrow afternoon there will be a great assembly of old boys who will march in procession according to the years of their attendance at the school. As a preliminary to the ceremony, a sports fixture has been planned to take place on the school fields. A smoke concert and reunion will be held in the Masonic Hall tomorrow evening in conjunction with an extraordinary general meeting of the Old Boys’ Association. The celebrations will conclude with a service in the school hall on Sunday morning conducted by the Rev. Jasper Calder.
