DEATH OF TWINS HUSBAND’S EVIDENCE Evidence that his wife had spent part of last year in the Wolfe Home, Avondale, was given by William Alfred Cu'ois when an inquest on the two children who were found strangled in bed yesterday was opened this morning, before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. Air. Cubis, the father of the children, who is employed by J. T. Julian and Sons, Ltd., on the construction of the new railway station, gave his wife’s maiden name as Annie Elizabeth Foley. He had married her in 1920, and the deceased children, who were txvins aged four, had been born on October 31, 1925. “A year ago my xvife's health broke down, and she was for a time under the care of Dr. Richards, of Milton Road," continued witness. “On his advice she entered the Wolfe Home as a voluntary patient. She came home on June 30, xvhen she was apparently normal. At times she was indisposed, but there was nothing to, suggest that she would resort to violence, or injure the children in any way. On Monday she was in good health. I brought her a cup of tea when I left for work at i a.m. yesterdav. The deceased, Timothy Brian, who slept in the same bed as my wife and myself, was then awake, but the other boy, William Arran, was asleep in his cot beside the bed.” Witness identified the bodies, and the inquqst was adjourned sine die. CHARGE OF MURDER DEMENTED MOTHER BEFORE COURT REMANDED TILL AUGUST 13 Charged with the murder of her two children, Willia mArraii Cubis and Timothy Brian Cubis, their mother, Annie Elizabeth Cubis, aged 39, appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court yesterday afternoon.

During the reading of the charge, accused kept screaming; —’My beautiful babies! Give me back by babies!” She had to he held by the police matron and two police officers, as she struggled to get close to the bench. She was remanded until August 13.
