MAORI KING’S MOTHER
DEATH AT HUNTLY (From Oar Own Correspondent) NGARUAWAHIA, Today. rpE MARAE MAHUTA, the Maori King’s mother, died at Huntly yesterday, at the age of 50. A big tangi, which it is expected that natives from all over the North Island will attend, is to begin tomorrow. Queen Te Marae was the wife of Mahtita, father of the present "King," Rata Mahuta. She was present at the recent ceremonial opening of the Maori meetinghouse at Ngaruawahia, and on that occasion welcomed the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates and Mrs. Coates, who were the guests of honour.
