HARBOUR DISASTER

PLEASURE BOAT SUNK AT OSTEND MORE THAN 20 DROWNED [Australian and JY.X. Press Association) Kecd. 11.20 a.m. OSTEND, Sunday. A pleasure boat entering the harbour collided close to the wharf with another one which was leaving and sank immediately. More than GO passengers were aboard, mostly elderly people and children. When they were thrown Into the water there was no time to lower the boats or to issue lifebelts. Boatmen who were near by rushed to the scene and saved between 30 and 40 persons. Fifteen bodies have so far been recovered, and 20 injured people have been taken to hospital.
