OFFER TO N.Z. SCIENTIST
SEXTANT FOR ANTARCTIC WORK GERMAN WORKER’S COURTESY (From Our Resident Reporter) WELLINGTON, Today. An offer to lend a special sextant for upper air observation to Mr. R G. Simmers, of the New Zealand Meteorological Office, who is to accompany the Mawson Antarctic expedition, made by Dr. P. P. G. Schott, the oceanologist of the German Shipping Institute, Hamburg, has been gratefully accepted. Dr. Schott, who is now in New Plymouth, is visiting New Zealand to collect data for a book on the oceanography of Ihe Pacific.
